Rosie AI Alternatives:
Compared on the Entry Plan, Not the Sticker Price

TL;DR

  • Rosie Professional is priced at $49 for 250 service minutes while Scale is priced at $149 for 1,000 service minutes.
  • Rosie Professional texts booking links; Scale books appointments and transfers callers during the call.
  • A booking link does not reserve a slot; in-call booking can confirm one.
  • byVoice Starter costs $29 for 150 AI-agent minutes; configured booking and handoff are available.
  • Rosie bills per minute (35 seconds counted as one minute); byVoice bills per second.
  • Rosie will automatically upgrade at the cap.
  • Goodcall offers unlimited talk time for $79 and charges only for unique customers; Starter includes 100 of them.
  • Smith.ai bills AI calls; AnswerForce and Ruby sell live receptionist time.

Rosie’s $49 Professional plan supports call answering and sending a booking link. But sending the link does not confirm an appointment; the customer still has to choose a time after the call. Direct booking and live transfers begin at the $149 Scale plan, which is the appropriate plan for customers requiring a confirmed visit or an on-call technician prior to hanging up.

We compare six services to find out what the Rosie AI alternatives have to offer for those calls for HVAC, plumbing, and roofing companies with 1 to 10 trucks.

Rosie AI Pricing in 2026: What Each Plan Includes

Rosie sells three monthly plans, and the tier decides whether the agent can book and transfer during the call:

  • Professional — $49 for 250 service minutes. Takes messages and texts a booking link; no in-call booking or live transfers.
  • Scale — $149 for 1,000 service minutes. Adds direct calendar booking plus warm and live transfers.
  • Growth — $299 for 2,000 service minutes. Adds waterfall transfers and white-glove onboarding.

Each connected call is rounded up to the next minute, and going over the allowance moves the account to a higher plan for at least three billing periods.

Which Rosie alternatives fit different call-handling needs?

Here are six options to narrow down the shortlist even before you start comparing plans.

  • byVoice — for HVAC, plumbing, and roofing contractors requiring in-call booking and a handoff to the on-call tech on the $29 Starter plan. It comes with 150 AI-agent minutes billed by the second and is available in 150+ languages.
  • Smith.ai — offices that would like AI answering with live receptionists as backup and would like to pay per call.
  • Goodcall — shops with long conversations and repeat callers that want unlimited minutes; also, the price is dependent upon the number of unique customers that call each month.
  • My AI Front Desk — teams whose focus is on maintaining phone conversations, SMS, and chat in a built-in CRM.
  • AnswerForce — trades that wish to have someone answer after hours and pay by the minute.
  • Ruby — professional practices that make a live receptionist part of their brand.

What do you actually get at each answering service's entry price?

Every service listed on the shortlist is here for a reason, but a starting price doesn’t necessarily tell you what you’d get for signing up. Refer to the table and determine if the service you’re looking for is worth the entry cost for your shop.

Important: The entry plans measure different things: AI-agent minutes, rounded call minutes, unique callers, per-call charges, and live receptionist minutes. Why Might a Contractor Move off Rosie?

Rosie Ai receptionist is able to pick up the phone and yet it may not be able to do what a contractor requires. These four limits can help you identify the problem.

Direct booking and live transfers start at $149

Rosie’s Professional plan, which costs $49 a month, can take a message and send a booking link. If a customer requires a confirmed appointment or your on-call technician before they hang up, then compare Rosie’s $149 Scale plan with other plans that include those calls.

Rosie rounds each connected call up to the next minute

A 35-second call uses one service minute. Rosie is touting spam detection, but its terms don’t specify whether blocked calls ever reach the point where billable minutes start. Review a few short calls in your dashboard before you estimate how much rounding will cost you.

Exceeding the allowance changes the subscription

Rosie automatically upgrades the account. Its terms involve charging the higher fees for the current billing period and at least the next two, and the higher plan remains until you downgrade.

Rosie lists only English and Spanish for calls

byVoice lists 150+ languages, but test the languages your customers use with your selected voice and speech setup.

What Should You Save and Test Before Leaving Rosie?

Before changing the destination of calls, check what still depends on Rosie. A customer might have an unused booking link in their texts and your crew might need a recording from last month.

  1. Forward the number and then call it yourself. Change the destination on your carrier/phone system and test it from another phone. Do it when both accounts are open, so you can detect a mis-routed call before the customer does.
  2. Look at links that Rosie has already sent. A link to an independent calendar might still work; one tied to Rosie’s setup might not work after you cancel. Open an outstanding link and send a new one to anyone whose link doesn’t work.
  3. Reconnect your calendar. Existing appointments in your external calendar remain unchanged. Try booking with the new agent to ensure that it isn’t offering taken slots to other callers.
  4. Back up the call history that you require. While you still have access, review Rosie’s recordings, transcripts and summaries. Check which records you can download and keep copies for your team.

If possible, maintain both services for a billing cycle. Send new calls to byVoice, review a working week and a weekend of bookings and after-hours calls and cancel Rosie AI answering service once the new routes work and you have saved the records you need.

byVoice vs. Rosie: Where Does Each Service Have the Edge?

Place the two services side by side, and the tradeoffs become much more apparent.

What Are You Actually Buying Here?

None of these services is a phone system. Your number stays where it is; calls forward to the answering service — when you don’t pick up, or always, depending on how you set it. Some vendors will hand you a separate tracking number, but none of them replaces the line your business already runs on.

That matters when you read the table above. A $29 or $49 line item sits on top of what you already pay your carrier, and none of these services gives you extensions, desk phones or a company directory. If that is what you are shopping for, you want RingCentral, Grasshopper or OpenPhone — and this is not the page you need.

What Would a Busy Month Cost on Rosie and byVoice?

A six-truck HVAC shop goes from 425 minutes of AI conversation in an ordinary month to 1,280 minutes in a hypothetical August heat wave. Suppose Rosie’s call-by-call rounding results in 480 and 1,440 service minutes. September and October are back to normal volumes.

The call volumes and rounding figures are assumed for this example and not measured HVAC averages.

Rosie

The Scale plan is $149, and has 1,000 service minutes. The hot month’s 1,440 minutes trigger an automatic upgrade to Growth at $299. Rosie’s terms say that the higher fees will be charged during the upgrade period and for at least the next two billing periods, despite a decline in call volume.

  • Three full Growth periods: $299 × 3 = $897

byVoice

The Pro plan costs $99 and includes 700 AI-agent minutes. September and October drop back into the allowance, but the hot month peaks at 1,280. byVoice offers a $0.14 per additional Pro AI-agent minute rate.

  • Hot month: $99 + (1,280 − 700) × $0.14 = $180.20
  • Three-month subtotal: $180.20 + $99 + $99 = $378.20

three-months-comparison

These are not the final invoice amounts: byVoice bills telephony, LLM use and some other usage separately, and Rosie’s upgrade-period charge is dependent on the timing. Use your own call log to make estimates of both bills.

When Does Rosie Make Sense for a Contractor?

Rosie’s $49 Professional plan is ideal for a one-person operation, where calls are answered, messages recorded and appointment links sent while working. English and Spanish should be able to cover the callers, and the owner should be okay with the customer filling in the booking from a text. Rosie AI pricing also includes a website chat  and provides a self-serve start.

As soon as an office requires the AI to set up appointments on a calendar or link emergencies to the on-call tech, compare Rosie’s $149 Scale plan. Rosie’s Growth plan includes waterfall transfers, in case callers require a backup chain that tries multiple people in sequence. Those are specific reasons to pay for a higher tier – and more useful than a blanket statement that one service is best for all contractors.

How to Make a Final Decision

Before you select a Rosie AI alternative, there are three things that you should keep in mind to ensure that the service you select would be a good fit for your shop.

The tier that handles your calls

Decide what has to happen before a caller hangs up: a message, a booking link, a confirmed appointment, or a transfer to the tech on call. Then check which tier does that with your calendar and call rules. Either way, it has to be set up. Trade-specific setups are on our HVAC answering service, answering service for plumbers and answering service for roofing contractors pages.

✓ Rosie Scale from $149✓ byVoice Starter from $29

The bill in a busy month

Price your own call log twice, once for a normal month and once for your worst one, against each service’s billing unit: calls, rounded minutes, AI-agent seconds, unique callers or receptionist time. Then ask what the pricing page doesn’t answer: what happens at the cap, and what the subscription itself costs in the months after. Add telephony and LLM charges where they apply.

How the agent behaves on a bad call

Nothing published will tell you this, and there is no review data to fall back on. Rosie has no verified reviews on G2, Capterra or Trustpilot. So call the demo line instead, ours included, and run the same three calls at every vendor on your shortlist:

✓ “I have no heat and there’s a baby in the house.”
Good: recognises an emergency and escalates instead of collecting your address.

✓ “How much is a capacitor replacement?”
Good: quotes a price you approved, or says a tech will confirm.

✓ “Can you move my Thursday appointment to Friday?”
Good: reaches a real calendar instead of taking a message.

Plumbing shops can add the burst-pipe, address and fallback tests from our best AI answering service for plumbers scorecard. Fifteen minutes tells you more than any comparison table, this one included.

FAQ

What is the price of Rosie AI receptionist for a contractor?
Rosie's monthly plans are: Professional at $49 for 250 service minutes, Scale at $149 for 1,000 service minutes, and Growth at $299 for 2,000 service minutes. An AI agent included into the Professional plan can share an appointment link via text. Scale is where the agent can book during the call or can make a live/warm transfer. Rosie offers a 7-day free trial, but requires payment details at the start of the trial.
If I use more than Rosie's included minutes, what happens?
Rosie automatically upgrades the account to a plan that covers the extra service minutes. The higher fee applies to the current billing period and at least the next two, and the plan stays until you downgrade. byVoice publishes overage instead: $0.18, $0.14 or $0.13 per extra minute depending on plan, and the plan itself doesn’t change.
What is the best Rosie AI alternative for a company with 1-10 trucks?
byVoice is the best match for a one-to-ten-truck contractor who requires in-call booking and an on-call handoff. It can process both workflows when set up, and the AI-agent time is charged per second, with the $29 Starter plan. If you need a live person to answer every call, then check out AnswerForce and Ruby. If you're looking for AI answering with human backup, the better option is Smith.ai. Using your own call logs, price a normal month and a busy month before making your decision.

Pricing and feature details were checked against provider pages on September 23, 2026, for an article scheduled for publication on September 25, 2026. Recheck them on publication day; plans and terms can change. The busy-month example is illustrative and excludes charges identified in its notes.
